Seedlings from BSI Seed Bank offered as Aechmea candida are actually Aechmea guarapariensis. Seeds were obtained by Gordon Slack (year not known, but I got seedlings from Gordon in 1992, thus dating the seeds in say 1988-1990). I got seed of Aechmea candida directly from Seidel in March 1989 and they are Ae. guarapariensis as well. Perhaps the BSI ones came from Seidel at about the same time as I got mine direct.
Whatever the route they are all Ae. guarapariensis
