"This plant was grown from seed on offer from The BSI seed
bank September 1994 as Aechmea haltonii by Keith and Maureen Green, NZ. The
seedlings bear very little relationship to the seed parent and it would be
difficult to find out which pollen parent has foreshortened the
inflorescence branches and made the petal colour pale blue with white tips
from pink! It is possible that this is a F1 hybrid and other progeny would
look similar. If you grew seed from this batch then you now know to call it
'Anton' which is the name given to it by Keith and Maureen Green."
